I am nearly a decade into this career and what I have come to learn more than anything else is that shooting in manual and having good gear will only get you so far. The real challenge of this art is what comes after that. It is the challenge of creating the space beyond my camera where you can be vulnerable and trust that I see you and value you, just as you are. Growth is measured by creating images that are truthful depictions of your own unique love, life, and story.  It is a never-ending challenge, pulling from me in ways I never expected when I first picked up a camera, and it keeps me forever in love with this job.

     Anymore, to know who I am is to know how I shoot. It is all one in the same. I’m a wedding & family photographer. I’m an observer & an empath. I’m a documentarian & a visual storyteller. I’m a wife & a mother & the youngest daughter in a family of bold women. I care deeply, laugh loud, and push myself to stay curious. These pieces of me, and the perspective they given me, make me the photographer I am

I'm Dana and I'm so happy you are here.

     Because I was the little kid enamored with digging through boxes of vintage family photos, searching for a sense of who these people were and what their lives were like, I know when we get it right in camera legacies are preserved.

     It’s an incredible honor to create truthful images that become your family’s heirlooms, knowing that what I capture in the here and now will tell your story for generations to come.

Some stories are once in a lifetime big;

you pick a date, exchange promises then rings, and say yes to forever.

Some stories are quieter and happen in the everyday;

you kiss their toes, dry their eyes, pick up their toys, and do it all again tomorrow.

I focus on the real, fleeting and sometimes imperfect moments to showcase your love rather than manufacture it.

Whatever your story is, wherever your heart lies, I will meet you there.

FAQ

What is your approach?

I think the simplest way to word it is this: To tell the truth. These are your people, your stories, your tears and your belly laughs. I know these images will be reminders of the best of times, and will carry you through some of the bad ones, so I document them in a way that I would want my own story told. My goal is to create space where you feel valued and honored to show up exactly as you are. I cherish the process of getting to know my clients and together creating images that honor their truths.

How can we book videography services?

Keren Galis, Wedding & Lifestyle Films (https://kerengalis.squarespace.com/)

Since 2012, Keren & I have been working together to provide photo & video products for our clients and our partnership remains intact. On wedding days we find ourselves in a rhythmic sync, understanding each other’s visions and working closely together to ensure cohesiveness in our final products. I genuinely believe this kind of relationship between “vendors” is invaluable and recommend video to all of my clients.

Do you photograph weddings with a second shooter?

Most of my wedding work I shoot solo, but a second photographer is always available ala carte. My general rule of thumb is if the guest list is 150 or more and logistically if we are traveling to multiple locations throughout the day, then it is recommended to bring in an additional photographer.

Have you photographed at my venue before?

Maybe! Maybe not! There are so many venues and new ones popping up all the time. Because things like day-of timelines and the weather effect each wedding day differently I always make time to scope out each venue the morning of a wedding. If I have been there before, I push myself to create new & unique images. If it’s my first time there I give myself extra time to become familiar with space.

What is your turnaround time?

All images are color corrected and edited by me. Depending on the time of year I usually deliver full wedding galleries back within 6-8 weeks, and family sessions within 4 weeks.

What is the album process like?

Albums are a wonderful way to keep the photos you cherish close at hand and preserved for always. The albums I offer contain professional printed images, adhered onto a thick archival paper and bound into a beautiful leather, silk, or linen cover. These things are gorgeous and will withstand the test of time! Clients that add them into their packages as we create their contracts are offered a 10% off discount, or they can we purchased following the wedding at regular price. We’ll work together to select the images for the album, you’re welcome to give feedback on the design, and once we are a go (usually 2 or so weeks) it’s sent off to the printer.

Do you travel?

YES PLEASE. It is one of my favorite parts about this job. Let’s chat!

How can I book?

Fill out the contact form so we can connect and get this thing rolling! Contracts can be sent and signed online, then a 40% non-refundable retainer is due at the time of signing. The remaining balance is due two weeks out from the big day.
